Our Health Program

For us, it is very important to breed healthy and well-balanced dogs, and we do everything that today’s technology and modern methods allow to ensure that our breeding meets the highest standards. We do everything in our power to create the best conditions for our dogs, both physically and mentally, and we are constantly working to improve our breeding practices.

All our breeding dogs are health-tested according to the breed’s health program.

They undergo eye exams, patella and heart checks by a veterinarian with specialist expertise. I also perform additional tests, such as the Wisdom or Embark DNA tests, which screen for over 240 hereditary diseases and provide information on the DNA inbreeding coefficient (COI). This ensures that we are breeding healthy and robust dogs with the best possible genetic foundation. My goal is to breed dogs that feel well, dogs that truly enjoy life.

When crossing individuals from different breeds,

a hybrid effect can occur in the first generation, often resulting in improved vitality and growth in the offspring. Mixed breeds can be healthier, but this mainly applies to the first generation, known as F1 crossbreeds. Two healthy, sound purebred dogs with entirely distinct genetics can thus produce offspring that are “healthier.” This effect is called heterosis and is the opposite of inbreeding depression.

Each puppy undergoes a thorough 12-point veterinary examination

at 8 weeks of age, and the documentation from this examination is handed over to the new owner. This ensures that each puppy is in the best possible health before moving to its new home.

    AS PART OF THIS APPLICATION, WE ASK YOU TO AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING STATEMENTS AND CONDITIONS:

    • I understand that purchasing a puppy is a commitment of 12-15 years.

    • If, for any reason, I can no longer keep my Havapoo or Havanese, one of the sales conditions is that I must first contact Viktoria’s Angels Kennel (VAK) to discuss rehoming and that VAK must be given the opportunity to take back the dog. VAK is happy to work with owners if they have a home in mind, but we never want any of our puppies to end up in a shelter.

    • I understand that VAK reserves the right to retain potential breeding dogs that display the qualities needed to improve the breed and our program.

    • I have answered all of the above questions completely and truthfully.

    • I agree that Viktoria’s Angels Kennel has the right to refuse to sell to me at any time.

    • I agree that if I wish to purchase a puppy from VAK, I am obligated to maintain veterinary insurance for three years. Exceptions apply to international buyers.
